SIX GRADE PHYSICALS

By:  Nadyne Lee, A.R.N.P.

Children are not permitted to enter Pre School or 6th grade without a school physical.  Sometimes parents do not remember to schedule these exams until August when most doctors are over booked and cannot see their children.  These exams are of critical importance for the medical care and health maintenance of your child.  During the course of the school physical, children will receive a complete history and physical examination.  Their blood will be tested to determine if they are anemic.  Their urine will be tested to rule out urinary tract infection, kidney disease and diabetes.  Their growth and development will be assessed and they will receive a visitation and hearing screening.  All past due immunizations will be updated and given to your child.  Your child’s doctor or nurse practitioner will discuss safety issues and give health related advice. Your child will be evaluated for speech or developmental delays.  Referrals will be made to sub-specialists, if necessary to follow up on problems diagnosed during the course of the school physical.  age appropriate health related advice will be given to you and your child.  At the Leitchfield Pediatric Clinic, you and your child can watch age appropriate videos on computer safety, drug use, stranger danger etc.

If your child is entering Pre-School or 6th grade, call The Leitchfield Pediatric Clinic at 270-259-5641 today and schedule a school physical.
